Gladys Stolls 10th Anniversary Rosary

Wil, Aaron and I attended a mass celebrating the 10th anniversary of Gladys Stoll’s passing.  The mass was held at the Yona church.  The celebrant was the same one who performed her funeral mass (I guess he flew in from wherever he was to perform the mass).  Gladys’ widow, Joe Stoll, and all of their children were all present (Joe and the other children, other than Rob who lives here, flew in from the mainland).

I can’t believe it’s already been 10 years.

During the mass, I sat there thinking about the last time all those people were together in that church.  When Gladys Stoll passed away, I was 30 years old.  My boss was Alicia Limtiaco.  Monica Hickey was still on island.  I think that Barbara Rose was too.

Wil said he attended that mass 10 years ago.  Funny how things work out.

After the mass, the family had a party of sorts at the Camacho beach house (Mrs. Emily Camacho’s home).  It’s been about that long since I had been there too.

During dinner, we sat with Richard Camacho and his wife, Toni.  Strangely enough, a decade ago, after one of Gladys’ rosaries (or it could have been the funeral), I, Monica and Anthony Camacho (Richard’s brother), sat around together at the former Santa Fe hotel having drinks and a meal with.. you guessed it… Richard and Toni.  They don’t remember though.

Santa Fe hotel is less than a mile away on the same stretch of beach.

Funny how things work out.

God bless you, Gladys, wherever you are.
